The Studio
A small shop, a long view.
Olive & Iron was founded on a simple frustration: furniture and hardware that look beautiful in a showroom and fall apart in a decade. We build the other kind.
Origin
The shop opened in 2018, in a leaky garage off Delridge, with one cast-iron anvil and a planer borrowed from a friend.
Six years later we've moved twice, hired one collaborator, and put roots down at 8527 16th Ave SW — a sun-filled space with room for the forge on one side and the wood bench on the other. The workflow is the same as it was in the garage: one piece at a time, all the way through.
We name pieces after the neighborhoods they go home to. We keep a binder with photos of every commission. We answer every email ourselves. Olive & Iron will stay small on purpose.
Principles
Four things we refuse to compromise.

Material honesty
Solid wood, solid steel. No veneers, no powder-coat hiding the welds.

Hand work
Mortise and tenon. Hammered scrolls. Oil finishes rubbed in by hand.

Local sourcing
PNW walnut, oak, and fir from mills within 200 miles of the shop.
- 04
A single maker per piece
Whoever starts your table, finishes your table. Their name is on the underside.
